Default My success with Sick (so far!)

    My success with Sick!

1st May, the day I discovered Sick

I've been here about 8 weeks. I have 100s of websites divided into four catagories.

    Health commerce sites

    Clickbank product sites

Blogfarm for the purpose of anchor text links to my money sites

Domains that I intend to pass onto my kids - with a 2/3 page minisite

My first priority is my health and clickbank sites.

It took me about an hour to figure out Sick, pick up the free packets, buy some of 1 bucks packets and start blasting away It took me another hour to realise that this wasn't enough lol!

I'm not a coder, I can't even build a website without help, I'm the least technical person you'll ever find. I knew I needed packets of 10,000s of links, all unique to me and I also knew the only way to get that was to make them myself. I took a step back, decided on a plan and followed it through.

I then spent a couple of days just finding every piece of information I could on how to use scrapebox properly and how to build my own packets in Sick. I didn't pay for anything, I just went to forums, read posts, read the faqs, watched the videos etc.

I'd already discovered (obviously) that you couldn't register at a forum if the username was already taken so I knew that I would have to build my packets using the same username every time to ensure that my packets had no duplicates. I picked the most obscure username to ensure that nobody else would be using it for maximum success.

Having 'jumped in' without thinking about it properly I spent 2 weeks just making packets using the same username and targetting the same keyword phrase (going back a couple of days later to add my links in). At the end of my 2 weeks my target term had jumped from number 74 to number 2. I now had packets of about 18,000 links, many of which hadn't been picked up yet on my 'packet creating term' so I knew it was a waste to continue building packets with that term, but I wasn't happy with 18,000 links, I wanted more

As mentioned above, I have a blogfarm for the purpose of getting anchor text links to my money sites. I want them to be strong so they pass on good PR juice but I don't really want them to rank, for obvious reasons. I ran my 18,000 links through again on a term that I knew I could never rank for... a "payday loan" type of phrase (but not "payday loan") - and then continued building packets under my new keyword phrase for another week or so.

By the 24th May (almost one month into my subscription with Sick). I'd built packets consisting of 25,000 links(ish). My first target keyword sat at number 2 and my throw away keyword "payday loan" wasn't anywhere.

From 24th May onwards I've used my packets as I intended. 1/2/3,000 links to 'this page' for 'this term' and 1/2/3,000 links to 'that page' for 'that term' etc. You know how it works. I go back a few days later and add my link in.

    Today, the 23rd June

Target keyphrase that I built my packets with, is at number 1!
Links placed on the 28th May, keyphrase is at number 1 (from 2)
Links placed on the 28th May, keyphrase is at number 1 (from 8)
Links placed on the 28th May, keyphrase is at number 11 (from nowhere)
Links placed on the 28th May, keyphrase is at number 2 (from 16)
Links placed on the 29th May, keyphrase is at number 1 (from 3)
Links placed on the 29th May, keyphrase is at number 1 (from 22)
Links placed on the 29th May, keyphrase is at number 1 (from 63)
Links placed on the 29th May, keyphrase is at number 4 (from nowhere)
Links placed on the 30th May, keyphrase is at number 1 (from 17)

My keyphrases are various degrees of difficulty. These are not just 'easy' terms I've gone for.

It 'usually' takes 5/6 weeks in my past experience for a search term to move so dramatically so I'm surprised that these have moved so quickly!! (some in just a couple of weeks). There are terms I've targetted on the 28/29/30th May that haven't moved too but I expect they will in the coming weeks, or I will throw more links at them. Links built in June haven't moved yet but I expect they will.

... and my "payday loan" site is still jumping but it was on page 3 this morning

And for the record, lots of my terms dropped in rankings and some disappeared completly before coming back with their great rankings.

Keep plugging away guys and girls. It DOES happen

thats really great stuff Janie thanks for sharing,

Couple of questions (vague or no answers are indeed accepted )

How many of your links by percentage are Anchor texted?

How many different platforms have you hit?

Have you built any packets for stuff that doesnt come with sick, or just strictly used the templates that come with Sick?

And finally, Do you filter out Low PR sites, or just hit them all?

( I dont mind answering the same questions if you or anyones interested)

I've used only the templates provided by Sick. I know that you and others have very kindly provided templates but I haven't tried any of those yet.

I've tried to build my own templates but I am the typical blonde helpless girl.

I've scraped my sites using scrapebox, sorted them by PR, highest to lowest, then started creating my packets from the top. Having said that, I'm using all of my packets.

I have been meticulous in recording everything I've done, and I've tried to do different things on different keyphases so I could establish what action gave the best results. eg...

High PR SMF 1000 links, no linkwheel, keyphrase only.
High PR EE 200 links, linkwheel, keyphrase and another site in signature.
Low PR vbulletin 500 links, no linkwheel, keyphrase only.
Mixed PR mixed platform 300 links, linkweel, keyphrase only.
    etc
    etc

There has been no outright 'winner' or 'loser'. I've been very suprised by the results. Like I've detailed above I've had some fantastic results, but equally I've had some keyphrases that have not moved at all or have dropped. I've also been surprised that some very easy terms have not moved... yet my "payday loan" site has come from nowhere to page 3.

I've done the same thing on more than one keyphrase on the same day. In one case it's rankings have massively increased and in one it hasn't changed at all etc. I cannot pinpoint what has been the best strategy or the worst strategy.

As an update. A term that I initially blasted away at when I first found Sick has only just increased in rankings today. From number 9, it dropped to number 12 after building links and is at number 3 right now. Eight weeks after building the links. So even the time frame of ranking movement isn't equal.

I'd like to say I hope this helped....

I would love to hear how you are getting on and your results??

Well it would be poor of me to say that I've just done the same and leave it at that

My results have been good, but I cant say that it is because of sick, I built backlinks etc before using sick, and had a varied arsenal of methods, so more important for me than gaining results "From Using Sick" I have been slowly trying to integrate my other backlink methods into an automated sick script.

    That being said -

I've so far worked 5 local business clients onto the first page using only the packets I have made with sick.

I've managed to get up to 90% of my backlinks on any given campaign indexed using only scripts I've made with sick (averaging over 70% on links that I aim to get indexed, not too sure yet about % for just natural indexing ie no ping/special stuff to get indexed)

I've taken a brand new domain onto the first page for low comp (under 250k without quotes) 3 times now

As it stands now, sick is 1 of only 4 softwares I use every day, and only 2 of those 4 are commercially available (scrapebox being the other).
1 software I use for bookmarking, and I hope to render it obsolete soon with Sick but I havent been able to achieve that yet.

I plan to do a live case study (or a few case studies over time) which I was going to use as my own success story. I hopefully should be able to start that next week.

Thanks for elaborating on your experience too Janie

Default Thanks for a Great Thread

Very interesting reading. I feel sort-of breathless after racing through it!
I bought Sick yesterday and I am still feeling my way around. I find that the documentation is a bit vague in some areas, particularly with "Advanced Links" and "Advanced Link Settings" , so I have built a few profiles one-at-a-time and then checked the results. Even doing it this way it is loads better than creating profiles manually.
I need to learn a lot about building my own lists. I'll get into that next week, I guess.

janie, what if anything are you doing to index your links?

buck, mind sharing any insight on your local biz promos? how you got clients etc? its something im just getting involved with

"I've managed to get up to 90% of my backlinks on any given campaign indexed using only scripts I've made with sick (averaging over 70% on links that I aim to get indexed, not too sure yet about % for just natural indexing ie no ping/special stuff to get indexed)"

is this the statusnet script or something else?

janie, what if anything are you doing to index your links?

Absolutely nothing. I think that's why, on average, I take longer than most people before I move (some people here move in days).

I know some people are obsessed with getting links indexed. From experience (a couple of years doing this) I know that the majority get picked up eventually, usually around the deep crawl stage before the PR update. A lot of what you hear about getting links indexed is usually from people wanting to sell you something to get your links indexed I don't worry about it. The time spent trying to index my links I could be building more links.

If I still haven't had a term budge after a couple of months I will submit to the RSS directories with the new Sick RSS indexer trick

I want number 1 for 100s of sites. I'm not in a huge rush to get there and long term I figure my time is better spent getting links to them all rather than getting links to one then trying to get those links indexed faster than they would be naturally before moving on to the next.

I am on JanieR's side of the fence.
Once I paid for a 10,000 profiles blast but the service did not provide pinging or RSS submission. They gave me more than 10,000 to allow for dud sumissions.
Two and a half months later Google has indexed over 10K, so the only thing pinging or RSS-ing would have achieved is to have the profiles indexed more quickly.
And I am not sure that I would want Google to find that many in one hit. It's a bit over the top.

    EDIT:
I should point out that many profiles out of the 10K were if fact duds. They were duds because even though the User Name was registered the links didn't get put in for some reason. I have no idea how many profiles fell into this category. Who has time to do that kind of analysis?

And this is what I like about using Sick. I have far more control over the process. I can see what went wrong with failed submissions and correct it if I wish.

...and remember, sick things usually get better!

Scrapebox 'check links' function Then those links that do check out can be loaded into SickBuilder to create automated packets
